Most of the time, I like to share information about my deeper exploration into the world of yoga via this blog. I enjoy finding out about concepts related to yoga and how they work with physical activity to enhance quality of life. Today I want to share with my readers my experiences with yoga classes in Mumbai and elsewhere.
Apart from my regular yoga class in Bandra west I also undertake corporate yoga events and other training workshops. My unique experiences with these events have been humbling because of the many ways people have found them life altering. For me personally, these experiences have been enriching in several different ways as well.
It is wonderful to ‘introduce’ yoga to people
For people who have never experienced yoga before; who have had sedentary lifestyles without much scope for wellness activities, yoga can be a revelation. Many people who have participated in corporate workshops I have conducted have later expressed their appreciation for the positive changes they have experienced. Those changes have been at several levels: physical, mental and spiritual.
On the occasions that I have conducted special yoga classes while on holiday in Goa and again in Kashmir – on the beach and in the open amidst the magnificent undulating landscape, the atmosphere was very different. However it was equally wonderful. Here holiday makers found that their appreciation of the natural setting was enhanced by their yogic experience and they emerged elated and rejuvenated from it.
I love helping people reduce stress
There is something I commonly note in the corporate yoga workshops or student /intern training sessions that I conduct. These events typically consist of busy, stressed and harried individuals who have neither the time nor the inclination to make the effort to live a healthier life. When I was able to show these people effective yoga aasans and Pranayam techniques that made a palpable difference to their stress levels, it was an eye opening experience for them, and professionally extremely rewarding for me. The aasans, breathing techniques and other tips I offer are not difficult to incorporate even into a busy routine and so can be life altering for many.
I have seen improvements of various different ailments
My bimonthly Women’s Camp at the Yoga Institute and Orthopedic Camp also at the Yoga Institute as well as my yoga workshop for Cooper Hospital interns have offered yet more insights into the way that yoga works to improve health and wellness.
Here students have reported that they have experienced lowering of stress levels related to studies thanks to the yoga techniques imbibed. Hundreds of orthopedic patients also find that yoga helps to ease various aches and pains and also helps to reduce severity of the symptoms of some serious orthopedic issues.
At the classes I conduct specially for women, I found the easing of symptoms related to hormonal changes, menopause, and reproductive health among many women. It is wonderful to be able to bring about positive changes in so many lives via yoga: helping people feel more energetic but also more relaxed, more focused and healthier overall. To put it in a nutshell yoga has helped enrich countless lives; especially mine!
